Heraldic Privileges of Knights and Dames of the Order of the Eagle of Georgia
The heraldic display of insignia applies to brevets dated on or after 01 January 2025. Ancient knights and dames — those breveted before this date — may retain the insignia rules valid on the date of their brevet. Confrères of the Order may display their insignia on their armorial achievements without prior approval.
Knights/Dames Grand Collar (KGCEG)
Knights Grand Collar (KGCEG) and Dames Grand Collar (DGCEG):
- May encircle their shield with the Collar of the Order
- Are entitled to the style of His or Her Excellency unless they enjoy a higher privilege
- Enjoy permanent and unconditional display of their arms at all official events within their jurisdiction, whether or not they are present
- May be buried with the banner of the Order draped over
their coffin - May display the banner of the Royal House of Georgia and the Order at significant life events, such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals
- Are entitled to wear the Order’s mantle during sacred ceremonies, including weddings, baptisms, and funerals
Knights/Dames Grand Cross (GCEG)
Knights and Dames Grand Cross (GCEG):
- May encircle their shield with the sash and ribbon of the Order, with the badge pendant
- Are entitled to the style of His or Her Excellency unless they enjoy a higher privilege
- May display their heraldic arms at all official events they attend, or within their Rectory
- May display the banner of the Royal House of Georgia and the Order at significant life events, such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals
- Are entitled to wear the Order’s mantle during sacred ceremonies, including weddings, baptisms, and funerals
Knights/Dames Grand Officer (KGEG)
Knights Grand Officer (KGEG) and Dames Grand Officer (DGEG) may encircle their shield by a ribbon surrounding 3/4 of its circumference, with the badge pendant.
Knights/Dames Commander (KCEG)
Knights Commander (KCEG) and Dames Commander (DCEG) may display the neck insignia of the Order suspended from the lower flanks of their shield.
Knights/Dames (DEG)
Knights (KEG) and Dames (DEG) may display the medal of a Knight/Dame of the Order suspended from the bottom of their shield.
